PRESS RELEASE
Tribute to Enrico Caruso (1873-1921) On the 80th anniversary
of his death, and in conjunction with the many tributes and
commemorations to Caruso around the world, Artnovative
Corporation (www.artnovative.com) is pleased to offer a
special limited edition of Caruso by Caruso. This original
self portrait seriagraph is signed and dated, London 1904.
Artistically handcrafted, enlarged and presented on French
Teton Tiara card, Caruso's work has been reproduced using the
most advanced artistic techniques. An excellent tribute to the
genious Italian tenor, this authentic artwork would be a
prized edition to any collection.
On February 25, 1873, in Naples, Italy, Enrico Caruso was born
into a family whose rich history included the "Bel
Canto" or "Beautiful Song". At the tender age
of 10, while Caruso worked in a neighborhood mechanics garage,
he began to develop his extraordinary voice by singing in
local churches and for community associations. In 1900, Caruso
made his operatic debut performing La Boheme in LaScala de
Milan Theater. Throughout his career, Caruso performed in the
world's most important theaters and in 1903-1904, he opened
New York's Metropolitan Opera Season, where he eventually
performed over 600 Operas, representing over 37 different
roles. Caruso's sensual voice, melodious, rich and powerful,
made him one of the most admired Italian tenors of the 20th
century. In his time, he was the highest paid tenor in the
world, and the first to record his voice on the gramaphone
through an exclusive recording contract with RCA Victor where
he made more than 200 recordings.
This exclusive seriagraph, www.artnovative.com is offering,
was drawn by the Great Caruso during his stay in London, at
the Hotel Cecil, in a moment of intense concentration before
giving one of his glorious and memorable performances. It was
not until one of the hotel owner's daughters died, that this
self-portrait was rediscovered amongst her most favorite
prized possessions. Years later, the portrait was again found
by a Caruso collector along with some valuable photo albums,
clippings and keepsakes of the Great Tenor. Caruso's
extraordinary qualities, sensitive, romantic, passionate and
temperamental can all be seen in this original collectors
piece, which also adds to its artistic and historical value
and significance.
Due to a severe throat infection, Caruso had to cancel his
artistic engagements and submit to a delicate surgical
proceedure from which, sadly, he was unable to fully
recooperate.
On August 2nd, 1921, Enrico Caruso died.
